Three dead in separate shootings in Toronto

Two separate overnight shootings, two hours apart in Toronto, left two men dead on Saturday. Officers from Toronto police 12 Division responded to calls of a man being shot at Keele Street and Eglinton Avenue West, just before 2:30 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found a 36-year-old man with gunshot wounds in an apartment unit. He was found in a laneway, unconscious and not breathing, police said.

Officers performed life-saving measures on this victim, before the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Just two hours before this shooting, police responded to reports of a man lying unconscious on the ground at Jane Street and Yorkwoods Gate, in the city’s northwest corner, just after 12:30 a.m.

Police later identified the victim of this shooting as Kamal Daley, 28. He is the 68th homicide victim in Toronto this year.

Police said they are at the scenes to investigate. The two shootings bring the total number of homicides in the city this year to 69. Both shootings are being treated as homicides.

Meanwhile, police say a man was also shot and killed on Saturday afternoon in north Toronto.

Officers responded to a shooting around 3:45 p.m. at Weston Road and Highway 401 after reports of gunfire in a plaza parking lot. Paramedics attended and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.“This is now a homicide investigation,” police later tweeted.

The victim is male, but police in 12 Division, where the shooting took place, wouldn’t release any further information, stating that it is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to contact the division at 416-808-1200.
