Highway 413 would be a big mistake for Ontario

Re Ford government to reveal Highway 413 details in mini-budget on Nov. 4, Oct. 20

Two years ago, the province of Ontario opened Hwy. 418, connecting the 401 to the newly extended 407.

Apart from the financial cost and the catastrophic damage this massive white elephant has done to the local environment, it also involved compulsory purchases of hundreds of homes, dozens of farms and ruination of numerous small businesses that were forced to close.

Much as I’d like, I can’t blame this fiasco on Premier Doug Ford. No, this was the work of another bunch of politicians in the pockets of developers getting rich on the public purse.

Don’t let the latest batch of unscrupulous people mar our province by building Hwy. 413. Alan Tibbles, Bowmanville
