CLARIFICATION

The BlackNorth Initiative took a $1-million donation from a company that profits from the U.S. bail bond system, rather than partnered with it as was stated in a Nov. 7 column about author and activist Desmond Cole.

Also, Cole did not directly use the term “sold out” when withdrawing his endorsement of 2018 mayoral hopeful Saron Gebresellassi.

As well, Cole says he was not referencing Justice Donald McLeod personally when he used the term “house negro” during a radio program.

Cole says he was speaking about Malcolm X’s descriptions of “the house negro and the field negro.”
