‘When not golfing, Bray would tend to his garden, with particular attention given to his prized tomatoes’

MICHAEL BERNARD BRAY 1934 — 2021

A true gentleman and a sweetheart of a man, fittingly born on Valentine’s Day, Bray always had a calm and steady demeanour and loved to share a good laugh with friends and family. He was an avid walker, often with his loyal dogs by his side and treats at the ready. He was a true- blue Leafs fan devoted to “Hockey Night in Can- ada” most Saturday evenings. Pleasure skating with grace and form was an activity he kept up into his 80s. In the summer, Bray was a regular at the local golf courses. When not golfing, he would tend to his garden, with particular atten- tion given to his prized tomatoes.

CHRIS CHRISTOU 1933 — 2021

Christou was born in Greece, and immigrated to Canada in 1959. He worked a variety of jobs in the restaurant business until he was able to open his own. He was most proud of his success with his son, Angelo, in opening the first Sunset Grill on Queen Street East. Christou’s grandchildren loved to hear stories about his childhood in Greece, even if they heard them many times before. He will be greatly missed by the “Scar- borough Mafia” with whom he met on a regular basis for coffee and chats — some of those friends he knew all of his life.

MARGARET CIUPA 1931 — 2021

Ciupa was a card shark of a grandma and never missed a hockey or lacrosse game, listening to Jimmy Buffett tunes on the drive. She was a lifelong resident of Long Branch, a loving member of Brocks Beach and a less-than-stellar ATV driver at the vineyard. Ciupa began her career as a school teacher and was a founder and board member of Lakeshore Area Multi Services Project, an ardent supporter of Women’s Habitat, the Etobicoke Board of Health, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Canadian Cancer Society and helped put the roof on Long Branch arena. She received a volunteer award from the City of Toronto and was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow.*
