Marvel set to introduce gay Spider-Man

A new Spider-Man is coming out — and he’s gay, proud and fabulous.

Marvel is introducing its first gay Spider-Man, a character named Web-Weaver, in the up- coming “Edge of Spider-Verse #5,” out in September. The five- part “Spider-Man” series was written by Steve Foxe, Mark Ba- gley, Dan Slott, Alex Segura

and Karla Pacheco.

The character was designed by Kris Anka, who shared on Twit- ter that he took inspiration from late fashion designers Al- exander McQueen and Thierry Mugler.

“He can’t — and shouldn’t — represent ALL gay men. No sin- gle character can,” Foxe wrote on Twitter. “His fearlessly femme identity is central to who he is, but it’s not the STO- RY.”
