Capitals elevate female coach
The Washington Capitals hired Emily Engel-Natzke as video coach, making her the first woman to hold a full-time job on an NHL coaching staff. “It’s kind of surreal,” Engel-Natzke said. The 31-year-old was promoted from the Hershey Bears, Washington’s top affiliate, where she was the AHL’s first female full-time coach. Engel-Natzke played two seasons of Division III hockey at Adrian College from 2010-12 before getting into video work.
