Mete wasn’t at ‘appalling event’

On Twitter, NHL defenceman Victor Mete said he was not involved in an alleged sexual assault involving members of Canada’s 2018 champion world junior team, which he played for. Hockey Canada quietly settled a lawsuit last month after a woman, now 24, claimed she was assaulted by eight players at a gala in June 2018. The allegations have not been proven in court. “I believe it is important for me to state that I was not present at the gala event celebration when this appalling event occurred,” he tweeted.
