Made Market, military show offer plenty of present ideas, or head to a fest for some holiday cheer

Looking for holiday fun with the family, a market for last-minute shopping or an entertaining festival?

Toronto has a lot of fun on offer this weekend.

Toronto Made Market: Holiday Edition

This Sunday, visit the Toronto Made Market as it transforms Daniels Spectrum, 585 Dundas St. E., into a “Holiday Wonderland” with hot chocolate, candy canes, a holiday photo station and a special performance by the Amadeus Choir at 2 p.m.

With 80 vendors on site, you can shop for apparel, home decor, health and beauty, accessories, sweet and savoury treats, and more at this free and family-friendly event.

Snowflake Walk 2022

When the sun sets on Friday, race to High Park Zoo,1873 Bloor St. W., for the Snowflake Walk 2022, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. You’ll get to see over 20 lit-up trees accompanied by live carollers singing holiday favourites. You may even get to see some animals!

Tickets are $10 per family and are available online.

Toronto Military Show

This Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., participate in what’s being billed as “one of Canada’s largest militaria and antique arms shows” at Etobicoke Olympium, 590 Rathburn Rd. Buy, sell, trade or browse genuine historical military items, including medals, badges, insignia, prints, books, arts, souvenirs, and weaponry, among other antiques.

Admission is $12 at the door. Children under 12 are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Food and free parking are on site.

The Great Canadian Comedy Film Festival

Join the Great Canadian Comedy Film Festival this Friday, Saturday and Sunday as it showcases selected works of filmmakers from around the globe at the Royal Cinema, 608 College St. The film with the most audience votes will win $300 (U.S.).

Films include “Bon Appetit!” by David Guo, “Real Love, Baby” by Natalie Novak Remplakowski, and “Charlotte Sucks: At Dating” by Melissa Karimzadeh. You can check out trailers on the festival’s Instagram.

Tickets cost $22.23 and are available on Eventbrite or at the box office. Doors open at 9 p.m. each night.

The World’s Greatest Christmas Party

Bring the whole family to celebrate this holiday season at the World’s Greatest Christmas Party on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Variety Village, 3701 Danforth Ave.

Christmas music and treats are on offer alongside activities, including a visit from Santa, face painting and an inflatable play zone. The event will help Variety raise funds for its specialized programs to support people with disabilities.

Admission is $10 per person, and free parking available.

ASSFest – A Solo Show Festival!

Join Sweet Action Theatre this weekend at Artscape Youngplace, 180 Shaw St., Unit 106, for the allnew ASSFest, showcasing eight award-winning solo shows from Toronto and New York City.

Catch shows such as “10,000 Digits of Pi” by Vinay Sagar, “Oops I Booked a Solo Show” by Gord Neill, “Donna Carnivora’s Killer Party” by Stephanie Carpanini, “Popped Out” by New York City’s Rachel Resnik, and the award-winning “Bedwetter” by Tamlynn Bryson and Kyle Kimmerly.

The festival runs Friday through Sunday. Single tickets range from $10 to $20 per show, or buy an “ASSPASS,” available on sweetaction.ca/assfest.

Toronto Black Vegan Holiday Market

Black Vegans of Toronto presents the first annual Toronto Black Vegan Holiday Market this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Artscape Wychwood Barns, 601 Christie St. You’ll have an opportunity to enjoy festive African and Caribbean food and drinks while shopping for cruelty-free and plant-based health and wellness products made by African and Caribbean entrepreneurs.

The market is free, but capacity is limited, so RSVP on Eventbrite.

■ Join Deadbeats, featuring Zeds Dead with special guests, at History, 1663 Queen St. E., on Friday and Saturday. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are available on Ticketmaster.

■ The Toronto Symphony Orchestra and conductor John Debney present Elf in Concert at Roy Thomson Hall, 60 Simcoe St., on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available on my.tso.ca.

■ Foals at Queen Elizabeth Theatre, 190 Princes Blvd., on Saturday. Tickets are available on Ticketmaster. Doors open at 7 p.m. Ages 19 plus.

■ Mahjong Mafia presents “All of Us Are Naughty: Holiday Comedy Show!” at the Assembly Theatre, 1479 Queen St. W., on Friday. Doors open at 9 p.m. Tickets cost $22.23 and are available on Eventbrite.

■ Comedy Nuggets present “Best Damn Stand-Up Comedy Show” featuring three headliners in one show this Friday at SoCap Comedy, 154 Danforth Ave., second floor. Tickets cost $25 on Eventbrite or $30 at the door. It starts at 8 p.m.
